Today at first I asked them to do dictation, which took about 15minutes. It turned out that they had a bad command of the words and phrases of module 4. Most people did not realize the importance of memorizing words. Or they have little interest in memorizing words, so it is imperative that efforts should be made to arouse their interest in memorizing words.
Next I ask them to read the new words of module 5. Some of them still did not know the IPA, so efforts should be made to teach them to read theses syllables.
Lastly, I asked them to look up some new words in the dictionary, which always took a lot of time. Some students are also tired of doing that. I wonder how I can teach students to learn new words effectively. Sometimes looking up a word wasted too much time but the result is not satisfying. Next time it is not necessary to explain too many meanings of one word, but just mentioning the important usages.
